How to create Awesome Web Pages!

To publish information on the Internet, you need to 1st, get an Internet Account that will give you disk space where you can store your documents. 2. You then need to learn HTML, or find an editor that will create HTML documents for you. HTML, stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It's not really a language but a set of tags. For example, if you want to create a paragraph break in a document in HTML, you need this tag '(P)' at the end of any paragraph.

In order to create a Heading, you need this tag (H1) and where you end the Heading, you put this tag (/h1) The slash means that this is where the Heading will end. It's really that simple. There are many more tags in HTML, and we can point you to the HTML Primer if you want more. Just click here to read more about HTML.

But far easier than learning HTML is to use an editor that will create HTML Documents for you without your having to learn HTML. Internet Assistant from Microsoft is an example of this kind of program. This is free and you can download it now from Microsoft by clicking here.

Internet Assistant requires that you have Microsoft Word. If you would prefer an even easier method of creating Web Pages, there are many other HTML Editors that you can download from the IHELP library.

If you need an Internet Provider who will give you the ability to publish web pages, you can find them at Netcenter's Access Page

You can also have a free web page made for you quickly and easily at The Netcenter's Free Web Page Site.

One thing to remember about your web page is to keep it lively and interactive. Use as much skill as you can to keeping the reader interested, just as you would in publishing any other kind of document or magazine. For advanced Web Publishing, you will want to read a good book on the subject available from the author of the Ihelp Files, Mike Mathiesen

And another key point is to advertise and promote your web pages after they are created and placed somewhere on the Web. It does no good for you to place your information on the Web until someone reads it. So, the next step is to list your web pages in the Web's top Search Engines.

To do this in about 20 minutes, go to the NETCENTER'S What's New Page and list your URL address in SUBMIT-ALL. When you have finished, you will be found by people searching through the top search engines on the web such as Yahoo,Search.Com, The Internet Table of Contents, etc.

Please come back often to use the Ihelp Files whenever you have a question about the Internet, and come back often, we'll be adding many more subjects to the Ihelp Files from time to time.
